Ranked: the standing shows,
the number does not
An opponent is matched by rank, rating and upgrade level at once — you will not be put against obviously stronger equipment. The rating number itself is hidden; the division is always visible.
Who you will be given
An opponent is searched for by three measures at once. The longer you wait, the wider the windows — and the screen shows exactly how wide.
Machine rank
It looks for an equal first, then a neighbouring rank. A two-rank gap is a different game, and the matchmaker will not allow it.
Rating
A hidden estimate of your strength. Both sides have to suit each other — not just you suiting the opponent.
Upgrades
The gap is capped at two levels out of five: a fully upgraded machine is nearly twice as tough as a freshly bought one.
Calibration and divisions
The rating number is hidden — nobody sees it, including you. What you see is your standing: seven divisions of five stars.
10 calibration battles
While they run, the division reads «calibration 4 / 10». Three battles cannot place anyone, and we do not show a made-up number in place of a real one.
7 divisions of 5 stars
Stars are won with victories and lost with defeats. At a division boundary one star cannot be taken away: a bad evening will not drop you two steps down.
A short recalibration
Five battles at the start of a season. Form changes over a break — the rating takes that into account and puts you back where you belong quickly.
The match clock
The clock is visible to both sides. Everything it does goes into the recording as well.

Ninety seconds to come back
Make it back in time and you carry on with the same battle: the same map, the same craters, the same turn. Miss it and it is a technical defeat.
Your opponent sees that you are reconnecting the whole time, not a blank screen with a timer.

Money does nothing here
In ranked the machine stats are normalised and modules and upgrades are switched off. Neither premium, nor boosters, nor any other purchase affects the outcome.
Ranked battles pay no credits either — so that it never occurs to anyone to arrange an outcome for the money.

A standing is earned by playing
Ten battles and you will see your division.
